Victim dies from the impact of the collision.  At this time the death is ruled suspicious.

A motorist who ran into a woman's body on a rural  road at night has led to a sheriff's investigation of the death, according to sheriff's spokesman Lt.  Thom Raulen.

The crash and death occurred at the 6300 block of 61st Street, northwest of Vero Beach.  A driver was traveling along 61st street when the vehicle they were driving hit something in the road.   The knew something was wrong and turned around and unfortunately found a body that they just crashed into.

At first the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this crash when it was reported.  Because of the location it was determined that the Indian River County Sheriff's office should work the investigation.

Because of the on-going investigation, sheriff's officials haven't released further details, including autopsy results that could show when the woman died and the cause.

Further details may be released Wednesday, Raulen said.

Traffic on 61st stopped for over 3 hours while the accident was being investigated.
