Traffic was stopped on US Highway One after man was charged with drug trafficking.

After the traffic stop deputies located 44 pills in a car his fiancée was driving over the weekend, according to arrest affidavits.

Gentrus Devon Thomas Jr., 21, of the 3800 block of 42nd Place, was charged with trafficking of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, violation of probation and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, according to his arrest affidavit.

Erica Michelle White, 31, of the same address, was charged with habitually driving with a suspended license, a felony, and driving an unregistered vehicle, according to her arrest affidavit.

Deputies stopped a red Ford Contour with a stolen license plate and cracked taillight along the 1100 block of U.S. 1 at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday, the Sheriff's Office affidavits said.

Deputies said they asked White and Thomas, the car's only passengers, to step out of the vehicle as it was searched because of a smell of marijuana.

They found a black case with plastic bags containing 12 oxycodone pills and 32 hydromorphone pills, a small bag of marijuana and a partially smoked joint, according to the affidavits.

During the traffic stop and arrest the Sheriff's office directed traffic around US Highway One.

Attorney Jason Weisser of Shuler, Halvorson, Weisser, Zoeller and Overbeck responded to arrest:   “I hope that the two that were arrest will get help dealing with the problems they have.”
